Tidecallers

Masters of ebb and flow, the Tidecallers live where sea and sky collide, carving cliffside coves and tidal harbors into living rock. Their homes perch on stilts above foaming waters, linked by rope bridges that sway with each rising tide, and their boats, crafted from driftwood and barnacled bone, slip through reefs with uncanny grace. From infancy, Tidecallers learn to read moonlit currents and whisper to kelp forests, weaving sea magic into their nets to coax greater catches and soothe angry waves. Festivals of bioluminescent lanterns drift across inlets at high tide, celebrating the ocean’s gifts and binding each generation ever tighter to the restless heart of the deep.

Cities and Settlements: Tidecaller settlements are coastal or island-based, often nestled in sheltered harbors or cliffside coves. These cities are heavily reliant on fishing, seafaring, and trade, with fleets of ships constantly coming and going. The architecture is adapted to withstand storms and rising tides, with buildings on stilts or carved into rocky cliffs. Social structures revolve around seafaring guilds, with leadership earned through experience navigating the dangerous waters. Festivals celebrating the sea, tides, and storms are common, as is reverence for the ocean’s power.
