Survival

Associated Ability: Wisdom

The GM may ask for a Wisdom (Survival) check when you need to follow tracks, hunt for food, lead your group through harsh environments, recognize signs of nearby creatures, predict the weather, or avoid natural hazards like quicksand.

Tracking

Tracking is a specialized use of the Survival skill, allowing you to find and follow the traces of a creature’s movement. Any character can attempt to track, even without proficiency in Survival.

To track a creature, a PC declares their intention, and the GM determines if it is feasible, such as whether too much time has passed for tracks to be visible. If tracking is possible, the GM decides whether a check is required. Obvious signs, like muddy footprints, might automatically allow success. If a check is needed, the PC must make a Wisdom (Survival) check with a difficulty set by the GM.
